NEXTGEN Aviators

for Students and Parents

Providing the clarity you need to help your teenager secure a solid future.

Your teenager will be an aviator for a day, experiencing many different aspects of aviation.

They will be introduced to aviation as they participate in aviation maintenance labs, conduct a preflight of an airplane with a professional pilot, and practice flying skills in a flight simulator. Then, they get to take off into the sky in a Beechcraft King Air 90 and listen to our professional crew narrate their activities from the flight deck.

“I never thought of aviation as a possible career choice but after today I realized there is a lot I am interested in”

Allow your teen to explore unknown possibilities in a safe environment, with professional guidance.

Learn the opportunities and the growth potential that many industries offer.

Many people never consider a technical career simply because they are unaware. Most don’t know the opportunities that exist because they have yet to discover the skills and interests they have which support and enable aviation. By attending NEXTGEN Aviators, your teen will learn of the various secure, successful, and fulfilling careers in multiple fields.

If I had to have career in aviation, I would like to design planes and possibly 3D print small ideas to see if it works on a small scale.

How Does NEXTGEN Aviators Work?

An easily accessible aviation STEM experience did not exist until now. You might find an introductory flight and some elementary ground instruction at your local airport, but you certainly won’t find the world-class experience we provide. The NEXTGEN Aviators 3-hour experience hits the mark for fun while learning the science of flight, technology in aviation, and aerospace engineering. Your teenager will never want this thrilling and unforgettable STEM event to end now that they see their potential for a future in the exciting world of the technical workforce.

Experienced aviators will provide unforgettable hands-on opportunities to practice professional skills used in many industries, including aviation. Experience the thrill of guiding a plane through the skies in our desktop simulator. Talk with experts and learn valuable information which will help you determine your future. Fasten your seat belt, put on your headset, and takeoff into the sky with a professional flight crew in a Beechcraft King Air 90. A smooth landing will put you back on the ground and prepare you to follow your own path, based on the experiences and activities which have inspired you.

To be honest I’d never thought about going into aviation but now I would consider it.

NEXTGEN Aviators is a full STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) learning experience.

Engineers design aircraft for specific purposes. Pilots calculate fuel loads and wind speeds as they plan their flights. Mechanics must inspect, test, and repair to specific parameters to ensure aircraft operate properly. All have an understanding of aerodynamics, the technology incorporated in the aircraft, when engineering is necessary, and why each discipline is important to the safety of everyone. These STEM and technical jobs are increasing at exponential rates. STEM and technical skills are essential to our current and future workforce. These skills support and supply many careers and industries essential to our communities and our nation. NEXTGEN Aviators will give your child the exposure to these needed and rewarding jobs.

Many trades and industries have an immense need for qualified personnel. Unless we immediately implement a large-scale solution, this significant gap between supply and demand will continue to grow. The industry is very aware of this problem. Many studies and articles have been written to bring awareness to the problem.

Christine and Jeff work in the aviation industry and have enjoyed burgeoning and rewarding careers and the growth opportunities they’ve been presented. They decided to bring their 11-year-old, Noah, and 4-year-old, Teagan, to a NEXTGEN Aviators event, just to introduce them to aviation and help them better understand what Christine and Jeff do at work. Christine said:

    Before:

Christine and her husband Jeff hoped that the NEXTGEN Aviators Experience they attended with their children would spark interest in them to pursue aviation themselves.

    After:

Both of Christine’s children are now engaged in the aviation – just as Christine had hoped.

Noah said, ‘That was really cool, Mom.’

I am overjoyed they each loved it! I will make another post about the things they did another time, but these photos are of our flight on a Beechcraft King Air 200. The last picture is of the boys sitting in THE legendary Miss Virginia, DC-3, aircraft!”

Tony’s two daughters are already in Civil Air Patrol, but this experience further enhanced their aviation experience, and amplified their excitement about their opportunities.

    After:

“We saw an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand several career paths in the aviation field.”

“This experience was significantly impactful for both my daughters”

    Tony said:

“We signed up for NEXTGEN Aviators expecting a tour of an airplane and an overview of aviation opportunities, but the hands-on experiences we engaged with exceeded all that we expected – and the flight at the end was a fantastic capstone.

I would tell friends that NEXTGEN Aviators is an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand several career paths in the aviation field.  Our oldest daughter is pushing harder to earn her private pilot license and since our local Civil Air Patrol (CAP) isn’t equipped with aircraft, the flying experience was significantly impactful for both of them.

When they got to solder and rivet, both girls said, “Wow! This is cool!”.  And they liked the demonstration of airflow over the wing; the explanation and demonstration they received at NEXTGEN Aviators was more effective and bolstered their understanding beyond previous lessons.  And when they realized they would get to actually fly?  They were very excited.

I was impressed with the vision and hope to attend again so I can bring my son; he was a bit jealous of my daughters’ experience.”

“NEXTGEN Aviators had a profound impact on Luke. Our expectations were superseded! One of the most positive experiences to date!”

Kristine B. brought her 11 year old son, Luke, who was excited but also hesitant about the event, especially flying.

    Before:

Kristine brought her son, Luke, who was initially hesitant or nonchalant about the day. Luke wasn’t necessarily looking forward to any interaction with anyone…. ‘observing’ would be considered his safe zone, but he was definitely excited.

    After:

The NEXTGEN Aviators experience got Luke out of his comfort zone and provided him with a clearer vision for the future by broadening his horizons in the opportunities available in the field of aviation.

“In the week leading up to our day with NEXTGEN Aviators, Luke began creating an airport in Minecraft’s creative side. And he was so excited the night prior, he couldn’t sleep. Luke’s typically very quiet when you meet him, especially in unfamiliar settings. When coronavirus hit, we set a goal as a family to try something new each month to get out of our comfort zone. It was exciting as a parent, to see him engage with the staff and become more comfortable participating in the group with each activity leading up to his first flight.

The staff were very encouraging, meeting him on his level, helping him experience and achieve more. They made sure each student, including Luke, had several turns, working on each skill and shared the impact that activity would have on a plane. Luke absorbed a lot and the encouragement helped him believe that he could do it.

While the motor station, simulator station, circuit station, and preflight station were all excellent, his favorite station was fixing the wing (riveting). He loved using the rivet tools, installing one rivet in right after the other. He told me he would have enjoyed fixing airplane wings all day long, one rivet at a time!

When it was his turn to ride in the airplane for the first time, he was pretty nervous. It was a flawless flight overlooking the beautiful Shenandoah Valley foliage! When we landed, he felt the exhilaration that comes when you conquer your fear! He began asking questions. “How much do various positions earn? How long do you need to go to school? What type of schooling is necessary,” and, “How old do you have to be to work at Dynamic Aviation?”

Our day together with NEXTGEN Aviators had a profound impact on him; it broadened his horizon and ours with regards to the opportunities available locally and in aviation. He is already thinking about his future working on airplanes. When we got home, he told his grandparents and his sister he would like to work at DA someday.

The day spent at DA was one of our most memorable and positive experiences. The ratio of staff per participant and the interaction, patience, and encouragement offered by the staff to the students all surpassed our expectations! In sharing our experience with family and friends, I have used words like exhilarating; excellent; organized; fun; visionary; and, memorable.

NEXTGEN Aviators provided experiences that took Luke out of his comfort zone and gave him a vision of possibilities to come, all while enjoying it together as a family. When we visited family two months after the event, Luke was still eager to talk about and share his experience with them.

It’s definitely a day we will always remember!“

“The plane ride was so smooth and pleasant!”

    Before:

Natalie’s husband is a pilot, and their family has been around aviation for quite a while. So, it would be reasonable for one to think that this experience would hold little or no value to them. But Nataline found that not to be the case, when she brought her 14, 12, and 10-year-old children to the NEXTGEN Aviators experience.

    After:

After speaking with our NEXTGEN Aviators staff, Natalie’s 12- and 14-year-olds realized the vast realm of careers in the aviation field – and more importantly, how fulfilling they can be.

Our kids really enjoyed learning about the different elements they don’t normally see. It’s not just about flying the aircraft – which they’re very familiar with – but also about the behind the scenes stuff that must happen to make that possible.

We all enjoyed the opportunity to get hands on exposure and the way the experience built upon itself, getting more interesting as we went. Everyone enjoyed riveting and the flight simulators. Everyone’s pleasant demeanor and genuine passion for aviation also added to the experience, validating conversations we’ve had with our 12 and 14 year old about possible aviation careers and how fulfilling they can be.”

We have friends that have or do fly for the military or companies and she flew once when she was really young and still talks about it. So while she’s been introduced to that before, I was excited to introduce her to the other aspects of aviation and for her to see and experience them in an up close and personal way. I want her to try different things to find her passion.
